the purpose of fire

Fire is the Chi of life, the energy of spirit, and pure life force. Fire energy propels us to take action. It wants us to be bigger, brighter, and better everyday. A lot of fire in a chart gifts the native with the belief that anything and everything is possible! In a word fire is affirming.

Fire energy is expressed in three distinct ways through the zodiac signs: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Aries affirms itself: “I can do this. What I want is right.” Leo affirms itself and others: “I am great! You are great! We are great together!” Sagittarius affirms the Universe: “I love life and life loves me!” No matter the expression (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), fire energy has a positive charge.

too much fire

When the candle is burning at both ends we don't know how or when to stop. Staying up late, getting up early, and working too hard to make things happen at the expense of one’s health, are common and observable behaviors of an overactive fire function. There is also a tendency to turn to drugs or alcohol in a desperate effort to help ease the stress and anxiety of overproductivity. In social interactions there may be a heightened level of selfishness and impulsivity that seems to directly affect their personal relationships. The solution to this dilemma is becoming self-aware. Why are you working so hard? Why are you trying to manufacture joy via drugs or alcohol? It's time to get grounded. Reference the Earth Element section of this book.

too little fire

When there is little to no fire in a chart, we see someone who lacks confidence and courage when it comes to self-expression. The zest and humor for life is absent. There is a noticeable disconnect and fear of joy.

What's happening is old and heavy energy is stuck in the body. To spark your fire: move your body, exercise, dance, blast your favorite song and sing along.

healthy fire

Like logs burning in the fireplace on Christmas morning, healthy fire warms and lights up a room-- without running the risk of burning the house down. It is contained and fed contentiously.

Healthy fire gives us the self-awareness, courage, and playfulness to celebrate our uniqueness in a way that inspires others to do the same.
