Archetypes: The Revolutionary, The Truth Sayer, The Scientist, The Genius, The Exile
Individuality; this is the ultimate goal of Aquarius. Aquarians are here to push modern day society into the next phase of development. Whilst this sounds rather admirable and exciting, any Aquarius will tell you that pushing up against the comfortable, established norm is rather alienating. People, as much as they fantasize about change, are rather protective over their tried and seemingly true views. Aquarians progressive ideas about the cosmos, the world, society, and personal relationships are challenged daily by peer pressure, socialization, and the command to surrender and conform to normalcy. Normalcy is not for Aquarius. Whatever is tugging on them to return back to society must be shut down.
Aquarians need to get used to being seen as a little weird or unusual. The term “weird” in itself is not so much an insult as it is a plea to return to their community. Resist the culture. Through doing so, Aquarians will create an absolute loyalty to their personal truth.
Aquarians are constantly questioning authority and the established norm. There is almost a knee-jerk reaction to conformity or anything mainstream. This lends plenty of space to invent something eccentric, but revolutionary. If their work isn’t accepted, they are exiled. If it is praised, they are considered a genius. Follow your instincts and thoughts -- more often than not, you’re right!
Furthermore, their questions lead them to approach many different kinds of people. They thrive in social settings where they can stroll freely in and out of one conversation to the next.
On the opposite side of the coin, Aquarians struggle in one-on-one situations. Because they are programmed to stand alone they are dually ridden with disassociation -- not being able to feel or connect on a deep, intimate, and very human way. It’s almost as if they rip their emotions out, put them underneath a spot light, and examine them to death. Whilst this is beneficial and offers clarity in otherwise emotionally charged situations, it makes for severe loneliness and feelings of isolation.
Aquarian’s, to no surprise, are natural born rebels. If they don’t allow themselves to express their thoughts and ideas freely, they may end up rebelling at inappropriate times. And in turn, find themselves in trouble. They may side-step important developmental “rights of passage."
The advice: Applaud and support your radial approach to life and channel your genius into causes that matter to you. Self-expression in society is key for you, as it supports your goal to individuate. As you do this, you will find that people will accept you for who you are and you won’t feel quite so alienated.
